I seem to be stuck here for a week or so. I'm experimenting with raising my protein intake, which has made for a challenging adjustment. My calories have drifted up as I try to eat more protein. I'm not used to taking in lean protein, because on keto, it's been fattier. So far the scale has not responded, but I'm just three days in and still finding a way to make it work. I just downed a 62g protein shake for breakfast.

I seem to remember you dropped a few pounds just recently, maybe this "stuckness" is just a pause before things get moving again. Wow, 62 grams protein is a lot at one meal! (Weight lifters are probably laughing at that comment!) I'll be interested to learn how your experiment goes. Since protein requires insulin to process I haven't ever tried increasing it dramatically. I have collagen powder too - putting it into full fat plain Greek yogurt wth a small amount of fresh berries Gor breakfast some days.

Do you fast in between meals? I’m doing healthy keto. I go 18 hours from my last meal in the evening to the next day and then 6 hours between my first and last meal. I’m losing about a pound a day. For now!!!!

@Fatty_ass We are at very different phases of weight loss. The first week is always the fastest. I've lost over 60 lbs in fits and starts. I've done different variations of fasting. The trick here is eating high protein and fitting it into my meals. I prefer to eat two meals, which I'm doing today, but that puts massive protein into each. We'll see -- it's a 30 day trial for me.

The toughest thing for me with my "experiments" is evaluating the results. Sometimes it's just not that obvious! If I gain or stall I could call that clear cut, but if I lose, is it because of the rest of the diet or the experimental factor? Say, if I cut out dairy but keep the macros the same and lose weight would I have lost the same still including dairy? No way to know for sure. And since bodies are not machines there are just those times when progress stalls for no discernable reason.

Good luck. Higher protein does raise the calories for sure.

I just remind myself it took steroids & 7 years of poor eating for me to get here. I get frustrated when I plateau, but I just remind myself not to get discouraged. Just keep moving in the right direction...You got this!

I'm humbled on the high protein experiment. Too much forcing faux food (protein isolate, egg whites, collagen). I've been eating too much and gaining weight. I'm going to revert to my tried and true keto, which is plenty of meat protein and veggies with occasional cheese and now I'm OK adding an occasional smoothy or protein scoop if I need a boost. I'll keep it high protein, but I'm not going to force it. On another topic: I've been putting away my summer clothes and getting out some fall things. The good news is that those jeans that I've been avoiding all summer because they wouldn't zip, well now they fit. Yes! And I've got a big bag of summer stuff that's gotten too big, so off it goes for donation. The bad news is that I've sorted through every drawer, basket and yes, never-unpacked-suitcase in my room and I haven't even touched the bins in the closet. I rather dread this next step, because there's altogether too much stuff. Like many of you, I'm guessing, I keep clothes in several sizes, so I really don't know what will fit. That means trying things on and that is tedious. Well, I'm off to get a sore foot x-rayed. Happy day, all!

Thanks for the update - I've been wondering how that experiment was going. I checked out your food diary and was thinking that all those powders would be hard to do. Having too-big clothes and once too-tight clothes fit is very gratifying. Progress! Congrats and best wishes on your foot issue.
